FAQ
How the product works, without the marketing layer.
This page explains the bundle types, installation flow, storefront behavior, troubleshooting paths, and billing model for Nereus Upsell Lab. If you want proof instead of explanation, jump to the live demos.
Getting Started
Start in Shopify admin, not in theme code.
The product is designed so merchants can create and operate offers from the embedded app before touching storefront placement.
How do merchants create their first bundle?
Open the Bundles view and click Create bundle. The builder then walks through four steps: choose a bundle type, select products, configure discount and style, then review and publish.
The wizard starts from a real template, so merchants are not filling in an empty form for each offer.
What operator views are included in the app?
The current app surface includes Bundles, Analytics, Metrics, Translations, Plans, and Help.
Setup, performance review, localization, plan changes, and help content all live inside the same product.
How is the storefront widget installed?
After publishing a bundle, merchants add the Nereus Upsell block in the Shopify theme editor. The theme extension then renders the storefront widget for matching products.
The live offer data is delivered through the theme extension and the /apps/upsell
proxy path.
Bundle Types
Each bundle type solves a different merchandizing job.
The app supports nine current bundle formats. These are the practical ways merchants use them.
How do Quantity Breaks work?
Quantity Breaks are same-product tiered offers such as buy 2 for 10% off or buy 5 for 20% off. They work best for replenishable or repeat-purchase products where buying more of the same item is natural.
How should merchants use Buy X Get Y?
Use Buy X Get Y for classic BOGO-style promotions or pairings where the reward quantity is tied to the qualifying purchase. The cart payload and checkout discount should mirror the same tier.
What is Mix & Match for?
Mix & Match lets shoppers combine different products to reach a qualifying quantity and unlock a shared discount. It is a better fit than fixed sets when you want the customer to choose the combination.
When should Product Sets or Complete the Bundle be used?
Product Sets are fixed bundles sold together with one bundled discount. Complete the Bundle is better when the shopper already has part of the set and you want to add the missing items with a strong completion CTA.
How do Progressive Gifts, Smart Cart, Subscribe & Save, and Cart Rewards fit in?
- Progressive Gifts: unlock free gift lines as the shopper reaches the configured threshold.
- Smart Cart: show cart-aware upsells after intent is clear.
- Subscribe & Save: attach real selling plans to recurring offers.
- Cart Rewards: run spend-threshold rewards inside the same app surface.
Storefront
The app is built to keep storefront and checkout aligned.
How are offers delivered to the storefront?
Published offers are hydrated for the storefront widget through the app proxy and theme extension. The widget uses the live offer payload, not a separate hard-coded theme config.
How do checkout discounts stay in sync?
The goal is a single offer definition that drives the builder preview, storefront widget, cart payload, and checkout result. That keeps the customer-facing savings logic tied to the same configuration merchants set in admin.
What storefront controls can merchants change?
Merchants can control bundle titles, discount names, markets, styling, sticky bars, countdowns, variant selectors, and related storefront presentation from the embedded app.
Troubleshooting
Start with the checks that usually explain the issue.
Why is a bundle not showing on the storefront?
- Confirm the bundle is published and not still a draft.
- Confirm the theme block is installed on the relevant template.
- Check that the targeted products are in stock and within schedule.
- Review product, collection, or market targeting for mismatches.
Why is a discount not applying at checkout?
First confirm the offer is active and the shopper is qualifying the expected tier. Then review the synced discount state in Shopify and the app metrics surface for runtime or configuration issues.
What if products show as unavailable?
The app checks inventory status. If the required products are unavailable, the bundle can be suppressed or flagged until inventory is restored or the offer is edited.
Billing
Plans are based on bundle revenue, not on locking features away.
How does billing work?
Plans are tied to monthly bundle revenue bands. Merchants manage plan changes from the Plans view in Shopify admin rather than through a separate billing portal.
What are the current plans?
- Starter: $14.99/month, up to $1K bundle revenue
- Growth: $29.99/month, up to $10K bundle revenue
- Pro: $79.99/month, up to $50K bundle revenue
- Enterprise: $299/month, unlimited bundle revenue
